Natalie Hunt Training for Parents

As parents, we all want to do the very best for our children, but parenting today feels pressured and competitive, we are bombarded with advice from ‘experts’ and images of perfect family life. There are shelves upon shelves of parenting manuals and a hundred ways to ‘raise a happy child’, but how can we actually support the child in front of us?

The following training programmes by Mental Health First Aid (England) give parents/carers the knowledge and skills not only to understand young people’s mental health more fully, but to be able to confidently support their child, whatever their age. Each course comes with a certificate and comprehensive manual that can be used at home.

I also signpost resources for parents that are relevant, clear and easy to put into practise, from podcasts on looking after our own mental health to exercises to help your child talk about their anxiety.
